Mic’d Up: Dan Soder, Scott Seiss, Wolves of Glendale

Via The Wilbur

Editor’s NoteThe shot clock has been reset and we’re in the early innings of a brand new year. However, we all know just how grey and cold the winter months can feel once the holidays wrap up, so comedy is continuing to do the Lord’s work by giving us something to smile (or groan, wince, or gasp) at. With homegrown talent, national headliners, and open mics galore highlighting the calendar, the plethora of powerful comedy throughout the commonwealth continues to show up, night after night. Enter Mic’d Up, our ongoing weekly series that details the best live comedy shows to consider as you head out and about. Below, find our rundown for this week, through Sunday (February 18).

Scott Seiss at Off Cabot

He may still be best known for his sketches portraying that angry customer service guy on social media, but make no mistake, you won’t leave this show an angry customer. It hasn’t been too long since Scott Seiss was last in the area, but that doesn’t mean he won’t have a few new things to talk about when he comes back, and we’re looking forward to sharing in his most up-to-date frustrations.

SCOTT SEISS :: Friday, February 16 and Saturday, February 17 at Off Cabot, 9 Wallis St. in Beverly, MA :: 5:30 and 8 p.m. both nights, $35 :: Advance tickets

Dan Soder at The Wilbur

As one of the most highly-regarded storytellers and observational comics in the game today, Dan Soder returns to town with a double dose of a brand new hour that truly feels like a big ol’ special event, and that’s because it is. Every chance you get to see him live and in-color is a great opportunity to watch a masterclass in a comedian connecting with his crowd on a different level.

DAN SODER :: Saturday, February 17 at The Wilbur Theatre, 246 Tremont St. in Boston, MA :: 6 and 8:45 p.m., $37 to $47 :: Advance tickets

Wolves of Glendale at Middle East Upstairs

Buried deeply within the synth-powered goodness churned out by California-bred trio Wolves of Glendale is a hilariously chaotic love of comedic absurdity that just so happens to best served best with riffs and fills a-plenty. It may be their first show in the area, but this may be the only chance to see them in a space this up-close before they take off.

WOLVES OF GLENDALE :: Sunday, February 18 at Middle East Upstairs, 472 Massachusetts Ave. in Cambridge, MA :: 7 p.m., $18 :: Advance tickets
