Hallelujah The Hills are content to be ‘Alone, In Love’

The proper way to prepare your ears for a 52-song project is with a seven-minute single, naturally. As Hallelujah The Hills assemble their forthcoming record DECK — a four-album opus with “an original song for each card in a deck of playing cards” — the Boston band has released “Alone, In Love” roughly one year ahead of DECK‘s release. The track is meant to represent the 5 of Diamonds, although songwriter Ryan H. Walsh ironically had hearts on the brain when he penned the sprawling ode to an artist’s solitary, ceaseless workflow.

“I wanted to write a song that proved you can write a love song even in the absence of romance and love between two people,” explains Walsh, who is also the band’s vocalist and guitarist. “You can be in love with a process, with creativity. This is a love song for all the indoor kids working on their future masterpieces in their basements. It can be just as intense and rewarding. And whenever you make a breakthrough, there’s always somewhere new to push it.”

Add this excerpt from DECK into the shuffle on your playlists below, and catch the group at The Sinclair this Friday (December 15) with Eldridge Rodriguez and Aaron & the Lord.
