Bad Religion and Social Distortion, May 7
Springtime in Boston usually means college students are busy prepping for finals. So it makes perfect sense that Professor Greg Graffin will be rolling into town. Graffin’s punk mainstays Bad Religion are teaming up with Lynn-born Mike Ness and Social Distortion for a co-headlining North American tour that hits MGM Music Hall at Fenway on May 7. The run finds Social D playing classic debut album Mommy’s Little Monster for its 40th anniversary, and are the first shows since Ness’ tonsil cancer diagnosis. Says Ness: “Yes, we are back in action and can’t wait for this tour! We did this with [Bad Religion] in Australia in 2022 and the shows were amazing! We have also decided in celebration of the 40-year anniversary and re-release of Mommy’s Little Monster that we will be playing the album in its entirety. This should be a very special tour and we are all looking forward to it.” Adds Graffin: “Bad Religion and Social Distortion played together in 1980. Though we evolved in different directions, we both carried the torch of Southern California punk all along the way. Now we’re so excited to be on the same stage again.” Tickets go on sale Friday (December 15) at 10 a.m. local time.
