This Show Is Tonight: GAYLE brings her ‘Scared But Trying’ tour to Boston

In a way, we’re all Scared But Trying. But GAYLE is out here doing it up on stage every night, with dazzling results. The Texas alt-pop riser has leveled up quite nicely of late: Tours opening for Taylor Swift and P!nk; placement of new single “butterflies” on the chart-topping Barbie soundtrack; and breakout hit “abcdefu” surpassing one billion — yeah, billion — streams on Spotify.

So what does a girl do after all that? Take it out on the road for a headline tour.

That’s what GAYLE will be doing tonight (November 7) when she brings the Scared But Trying Tour to Brighton Music Hall in Allston.

Here’s what GAYLE has to say about the shows: “going on tour with taylor swift and p!nk have been some of the most exciting and terrifying moments of my life. before walking on stage, i would get nauseous and it would be hard for me to control my breathing, but no matter how i felt, i would try and do it anyways. the last couple of years have been a whirlwind, but i’ve continued to do things even though i was afraid… the thought of going on my own tour is very intimidating to me, but over time, i’ve learned i can do things even though i’m afraid. with this tour, i am scared, but i’m ready to try.”

In late August, GAYLE caught our attention once again when she dropped the video for “leave me for dead”, directed by filmmaker Acacia Evans (Miranda Lambert, Yellowcard), where she stages her own funeral as she says farewell to those around her. The song was first introduced to fans while GAYLE was opening P!nk’s Summer Carnival tour in Europe and the United Kingdom, and was written by the artist with Lostboy (Tiesto, and Ava Max), Cleo Tighe (Kehlani, P!nk), and Starsmith (Kehlani, Ellie Goulding). It follows a string of singles that have kept GAYLE on everyone’s playlists throughout the year so far. But there’s an ultimatum carried within the infectious track, so the listener has to decide if they are in or if they’re out.

“This song is a eulogy to my past relationships and the intensity of the feeling that someone leaving me is a permanent decision,” GAYLE says. “Once you leave, you’re gone. You have to make the decision to leave me for dead.”

Well, hey — we’re sticking around. No fears about that.
