Editor’s Note: Welcome to V3 Weekend, Vanyaland‘s guide to help you sort out your weekend entertainment with curated selections and recommendations across our three pillars of MusicComedy, and Film/TV. It’s what you should know about, where you need to be, and where you’ll be going, with us riding shotgun along the way.

Music: Kim Petras at MGM Music Hall at Fenway

There is just nothing Kim Petras can’t do. Way back in 2017 — yeah, ’17 — we first hyped the alt-pop superstar as part of our V:Music series, and we’ve followed her ascent ever since, from macabre Halloween bops to full-on global stardom that led her to the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. This Saturday (October 7), she brings her Feed The Beast Tour to MGM Music Hall at Fenway, and while Petras now dazzles year-round, it’s Spooky Szn where she truly shines, illuminating 2019 horror mixtape and V fave TURN OFF THE LIGHT. This tour, which takes its name from her debut album, is split into five distinct sections, and based on the story of Dante’s Inferno — directed Will Baker (Kylie Minogue) and choreographed by Brian and Scott Nicholson (Ariana Grande) — as it showcases her entire catalog. We’re stoked TURN OFF THE LIGHT gets some shine; ’tis the szn for Kim.

KIM PETRAS + ALEX CHAPMAN :: Saturday, October 7 at MGM Music Hall at Fenway, 2 Lansdowne St. in Boston, MA :: 7 p.m., all ages, $42 to $76.50 :: Event info :: Advance tickets

Comedy: Daniel Sloss at The Wilbur

It seems fitting that a comedian we first got hyped on through a pair of Netflix specials titled Dark and JIgsaw returns to town in October. And that’s what’s in play this weekend, all weekend, as Daniel Sloss hits The Wilbur for a trio of shows (October 6 to 8). As Jason Greenough writes in Mic’d Up: “From the mundane to the deeply personal, Daniel Sloss has the ability to take a wide range of topics and discuss them in a way that is dark, poetic, serious, and dangerously sharp and funny all at the same time. As one of the most in-demand acts in the game, the one-man show extraordinaire brings together an all-new slate of musings and deeply thoughtful judgments that will often times make you think harder than you’re laughing.” Tickets, as of press time, are still available for Sunday.

DANIEL SLOSS :: Friday, October 6 to Sunday, October 8 at The Wilbur Theatre, 246 Tremont St. in Boston, MA :: Friday at 6:30 p.m., Saturday & Sunday at 6 p.m., $52 to $79 :: Advance Tickets

Film/TV: ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ at The Moxy Hotel

Fresh off hosting Nancia’s album release party for Queenality, the Theatre District’s Bar Moxy at The Moxy Hotel shifts back into scare szn as the sleepover spot hosts Spooky Rooftop Movies Night for each Sunday in October. It kicked off last week with Halloweentown, and highlights this Sunday (October 8) with Wes Craven’s essential A Nightmare on Elm Street. Of course, a hotel hosting a film where Freddy Kreuger hunts and kills teenagers while they’re sleeping is certainly a choice. But hey, we don’t need to sell you on the film itself, or the screening’s surroundings (even Freddy would admire those panoramic views), so instead scan the flyer below for the rest of the Spooky Rooftop Movies Night lineup, which includes a host of classics through the month (Beetlejuice on October 15; The Addams Family on October 22; and Hocus Pocus on October 29) before this upcoming nightmare on Tremont Street.

‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ :: Sunday, October 8 at The Moxy Hotel, 240 Tremont St. in Boston, MA :: 6:30 p.m., free admission :: Venue info
