UPDATE: The festival has been moved to Sunday, September 17, due to inclement weather. The time and location remain the same.

We love a wallet-draining megafest as much as the next person, but there’s something special about a musical affair that you can wrap up with a bow after just one day. Just imagine: No hotel stay, no need to set an alarm the next morning, no trudging back and forth to grounds while nursing an overpriced-beer hangover. Yeah, One Day Only Fest would really hit the spot right about now.

The free, all-ages festival returns to Dewey Square Park this Saturday (September 16) for its fifth edition, courtesy of organizers Kickback Boston. This year’s iteration serves as the closer for Fierce Urgency of Now Festival, a multi-event initiative created by City Awake to “increase the social capital among young professionals and professionals of color, support efforts to have a talented and diverse workforce, and celebrate the region’s cultural diversity.”

According to the Eventbrite page, guests can stop by Dewey Square Park between 2:30 and 8 p.m. to enjoy One Day Only Fest’s curated selection of meals and music. Boston-based artists scheduled to perform include Megazoyd, Miranda Rae (pictured above), and Gogo., with DJ sets from Slick Vick, Real P, Knszwrth, Big Bear, and Paul Yvng spread throughout the afternoon. Gourmet Kreyol and Fete Restaurant will be on-site to dish out local flavor, which guests can pair with refreshing final tastes of summer from Slushy Lady, East Fruit Smoothies, Topo Chico, and Brockton Beer Company.

Rolling up with kiddos, blankets, and lawn chairs is encouraged, and a few early birds can snag one of the fest’s complimentary Adirondack chairs (your move, megafests).
