Coach Party balance inner confidence and doubt with ‘Born Leader’

They say that inside you are two wolves… and we can never remember which actually represent what. British al-rock upstarts Coach Party are back with a basic refresher, and inside their feverish new track “Born Leader” is a tried-and-true theme of the battle between inner confidence and self-doubt. Sparkling in its technicolor spin and a sonic call-back to ’90s grunge ‘gazing, “Born Leader” will be featured on the band’s forthcoming debut album KILLJOY, which hits September 8 via Chess Club Records.

“Sitting between two of our more thrashy tracks on the album, this song more calmly confronts how we can overthink the way others might view ourselves as a person, a friend, a partner, a public figure or whatever,” relays drummer and producer Guy Page, “and to let those thoughts influence who you think you should be, or encourage you to hide your true self to keep up a facade which likely only exists in your own head. But the truth is that those superficial efforts aren’t going to be what anyone really loves about you; it just feeds your own self doubt.”

There’s no doubt about this one, that’s for sure.
