T-Pain, Escape From Wiscansin: The Invasion, July 12
Welcome to Wiscansin, let’s get out of here. Back in 2016, T-Pain went viral after his 2008 lyric “Put you in a mansion / Somewhere in Wiscansin” blew up on Twitter, leading to the creation of the fictitious Wiscansin University. The Florida rapper — who just released an incredible covers record, taking on Black Sabbath, Journey, Frank Sinatra and others — has built a whole world around it, and now the Escape From Wiscansin Tour hits MGM Music Hall at Fenway on July 12, with T-Pain saving the world from an alien outbreak at each show. The promo video, inspired by ’90s film The Faculty, better describes what the hell we’re talking about. Tickets go on sale Friday (April 14) at 10 a.m. local time.
Peter Frampton, Never Say Never Tour, July 18
Nearly 50 years on, Peter Frampton is still coming alive. The rock and roll legend hits the road this summer for his Never Say Never Tour, a run of 26 dates that includes a July 18 twirl at MGM Music Hall at Fenway. “I’m very pleased to let you know that I am feeling strong and my fingers are still roaming the fretboard,” Frampton says. “Every note I play now has more meaning and soul. I love playing live and this fighter wants to stay in the ring for as long as he can. I’m so happy to be able to see you all one more time this summer. Much love, Peter.” The proof exists: 1976’s iconic Frampton Comes Alive! album has sold more than 17 million units worldwide. Tickets go on sale Friday (April 14) at 10 a.m. local time.
BABYMETAL & Dethklok, The Babyklok Tour, June 25
We love an inspired tour pairing, and The Babyklok Tour is one of the summer’s loudest. Dethklok, the on-screen death metal band from Adult Swim’s adventure series Metalocalypse, pairs with Japanese kawaii metal pioneers BABYMETAL for a sweaty-season run that plays MGM Music Hall at Fenway on June 25. There’s even a Dethklok film, Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar, arriving later this year, alongside album Dethklok IV. “It’s very surreal having so much new Metalocalypse & Dethklok this year with the trifecta of the tour, movie and album,” says writer and director Brendon Small. “I’m so excited to get on the road with the powerful BABYMETAL.” Tickets go on sale Friday (April 14) at 10 a.m. local time.
