We’ve been pretty hyped on Blondshell lately, particularly after the alt-rock project from New York City-raised, Los Angeles-based artist Sabrina Teitelbaum dropped spirited single “Veronica Mars” in December and rolled through The ‘Dise a few weeks later.
As we anticipated, there’s a noisy wave of news to carry us through the year, so we’ll condense it all here for easy reading: Blondshell’s self-titled debut album drops April 7 via Partisan Records; after appearing at SXSW next week and touring Europe this spring, she’s back on our shores for an 18-date North American summer tour; and to celebrate it all, Teitelbaum has released a cover of The Cranberries’ “Disappointment.”
The cover was a live fan-favorite when Blondshell toured recently Suki Waterhouse, and serves as an appetizer to what soon arrives via her album.
“I wanted to sing a song off of No Need To Argue, which is one of my favorite albums ever,” says Teitelbaum. “Dolores’ voice carries so much emotion throughout the entire album, not just on the big hits like ‘Zombie’, but on the more understated songs as well. ‘Disappointment’ hits me so hard because it feels like heartbreak disguised as apathy. I wanted to sing the song how I heard it, with the intensity of the pain behind those airy, relaxed vocals and drums.”
