Those four-day workweeks are always a few grayscaled shades of chaos, and that’s what we’re dealing with right now here in the States. But our Friday vibes are slowly coming to a colorful surface, and helping the allure is “Strawberry Moon,” the enchanting new sun-kissed single from Eleni Drake that dropped on Wednesday (February 22).

The British-born, Australia-based singer-songwriter is set to release new album Surf the Sun in May via her own Vanilla Sky Recordings label, and this latest slice of wistful lo-fi pop depicts a panoramic world of love and warmth. It’s a comforting tune with Sunday morning ease that’s quickly chipping away at the panic of the week. And it’s a love song, with a rather timeless, ’70s AM stereo feel to it.

“When I was writing Strawberry Moon, I wanted the listener to feel the warmth the song evokes within me,” Drake says. “I chose warm analog, vintage sounds to complement the story I was telling, and I created synths lathered in reverb and phasers so the listener felt a sway, almost wave-like, making them want to dance along with it. It was written for my partner at the time — we had gone on a moonlight walk, and there was this huge dark pink moon shining directly above us on the beach, where we spoke about life — dreams, insecurities, loss, happiness.”
