Tove Lo dances along the edges of a tortured love on ‘Borderline’

Tove Lo has spent the past decade dancing along the creatives edges of pop music. Now she’s residing firmly on the “Borderline” with a new tortured love song that appropriately arrives just before Valentine’s Day. The Swedish alt-pop artist dropped the track this past Friday (February 10), and the seductive bump n’ thump of “Borderline” acts as Tove Lo’s first hypnotic dose of new music since last year’s Dirt Femme album.

The black-lit “Borderline” arrives complete with a visually engaging video directed by Brazilian visual maven Nogarifilmed in Mexico City, and slotting as a sequel to Tove Lo’s 2022 clip “No One Dies From Love.”

“Borderline is a song about being on the edge of love,” says Lo. “The drama you cause inside yourself and with another person if you feel insecure. You test them. This song has existed for a long time and I’ve always felt it was incredibly special so getting to release it now has sort of a full circle feeling. Maybe that’s why it was the perfect song for Annie’s revenge video. I hope my fans love the bizarre love story that unfolds in this video, it’s my favorite kind of thing!”

Ours, too.
