Who doesn’t love the Super Bowl? Plenty of folks, of course — they usually can be identified by how loudly they yell the thought-terminating phrase “Sportsball” in totally unrelated conversation at the party (we also believe there’s an inverse relationship between how interested one is in the game and how much food of yours they eat) — but lots of people just like the fact that it’s a big ol’ event. And with big ol’ events come big ol’ trailers for your hot-and-hyped film releases for any given year. This year’s got some goodies: there’ll be previews for Fast X, The Flash, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and every Marvel movie under the sun. But Paramount’s gotten things started with this TV spot for Scream VI, which they dropped earlier on Wednesday morning. This can’t be as bad as last year’s reboot (we will never ever say “requel”), right? At least Hayden Panettiere is back.

“Following the latest Ghostface killings, the four survivors leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. In ‘Scream VI,’ Melissa Barrera (‘Sam Carpenter’), Jasmin Savoy Brown (‘Mindy Meeks-Martin’), Mason Gooding (‘Chad Meeks-Martin’), Jenna Ortega (‘Tara Carpenter’), Hayden Panettiere (‘Kirby Reed’), and Courtney Cox (‘Gale Weathers’) return to their roles in the franchise alongside Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra and Samara Weaving.”
Scream VI slashes its way into theaters on March 10, which is just over a month from right now. We’re excited for this installment to be about whatever the latest dumb internet controversy is. Will it be about a director’s haircut? Multiverses? Direct-to-streaming horror reboots? TikTok? Terrible introductions at New York-based repertoire theaters? Only time will tell.
