In Between Days is doubling down for 2023. The Quincy-based festival, which hosted its inaugural edition last August, will expand to two days and two stages at Veterans Memorial Stadium this summer.
The 2023 iteration of the fest is scheduled for Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20, featuring headliners Modest Mouse, Lord Huron, and Phantogram, as well as acts like Trampled by Turtles, Sunny Day Real Estate, Cautious Clay, and Yoke Lore. Roughly half of the artists on the lineup boast ties to New England, who comprise a killer undercard: Weakened Friends, shallow pools, Kat Wright, Dwight and Nicole, Paper Tigers, Dutch Tulips, Carissa Johnson, Mint Green, Gypsy Moths, and Sweet Petunia. Los Angeles alt-rock band Slothrust — who originally hail from Brookline — are also set to perform.
“We see this event bringing something new to the Greater Boston festival landscape,” notes festival director James Macdonald, former producer of Life Is Good Festival, among other local music events. “In Between Days is eclectic and diverse, delivering an experience unlike any other in Boston.”
Unfortunately, tragedy struck late last year when Modest Mouse drummer Jeremiah Green died after a battle with cancer. In Between Days has already confirmed that the band still plans to perform in August, and have also made a donation to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Green’s memory.
“Modest Mouse’s management has indicated to us that the band is committed to performing at In Between Days,” reads a statement from In Between Days. “Out of respect for the band, any other messages or statements regarding personnel or specifics will come from the band itself at a later date.”
Much like last August’s fest, the second In Between Days will feature a pop-up arcade from Salem’s Bit Bar, plus a vintage market where guests can snag retro clothes, homewares, and vinyl records.
“After great feedback following our first year, our lineup has grown exponentially and is stacked with two stages of great local and global musical talent, our new vintage marketplace will feature everything from thrifting to vinyl and the retro arcade will double in size,” adds festival founder Alex Magleby. “We’re excited about our diverse food and beverage vendors. We really can’t wait to bring this community back together to share the expanding experience with new friends and artists at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Quincy this August.”
Weekend passes — priced at for both general admission and VIP packages — are available to purchase now, while single day tickets will go on sale later this spring. Grab your In Between Days wristbands here, and check out the full lineup below.
