You know the musicians around town are doing something right when they use each other as the benchmark for success. “Shoutout the money now time to get rich / I got the money in headlocks like Stizz,” Luke Bar$ rhymes on his new single “AND SOON,” tipping his hat to the triumphs of fellow Massachusetts rapper Cousin Stizz. (For what it’s worth, the name drop was received with open arms — Stizz responded to the song on Twitter with the goat emoji).
The Brockton artist and member of Van Buren Records dropped the Latrell-James-produced song yesterday (December 6), exclaiming a resolute mission to “keep stacking ’til it hit the ceiling fan.” Yet “AND SOON” flexes the hardest when it reveals Bar$’s backbone: “Toast to the days when I thought I would quit / This for the days when I wish I was dead” he raps, before circling back to talk of LLCs.
Whether he’s struggling or swimming in dough, Luke Bar$ means business — and soon other musicians will be dropping his name like Stizz’s.
