Here’s more reason to skip right past the holidays and swandive into 2023: The Walkmen are reuniting.
The iconic New York City band, responsible for perhaps one of the Top 50 all-time greatest songs in “The Rat,” will reform for a pair of live shows this spring at Webster Hall. The dates mark The Walkmen’s first gigs since 2013, the year after the release of their last album Heaven, and go down April 26 and 27.
“Back in 2013, an unnamed Walkmen band member (Peter Bauer) announced to The Washington Post that we were going on an ‘extreme hiatus’. I assumed that meant there would be a lot of Monster Energy drinks and maybe that red-headed snowboarder guy would be hanging around a lot… but none of that actually happened,” says frontman Hamilton Leithauser in a press release. “Instead, in the ensuing years we’ve all worked on a ton of different projects in a ton of different places. Recently, someone sent us a clip of us playing at Irving Plaza from 2003, and it just looked very exciting. So, we’ve decided we’d like to play together again… See you soon.”
Tickets to both shows go on sale Friday (November 18) via these links: April 26 + April 27. Check out a trailer below to get super-hyped.
