At this point in the game, album anniversary tours are boring and lame — unless of course it’s a band we all know and love touring an album we all know and love on a special silver anni that makes us feel both young and old at the same time. All that and more is at play here as Modest Mouse have today unveiled The Lonesome Crowded West Tour, a 20-date run that not only closes 2022 out in style, but celebrates the iconic band’s celebrated sophomore album.
And there’s some real juice behind all this: “First released on November 18, 1997 on Up Records and produced by Calvin Johnson in Seattle, Modest Mouse plans to tour as they originally had behind the release, going out as a four piece with original members Isaac Brock and Jeremiah Green joined by Russell Higbee and Simon O’Connor.”
The band will be playing The Lonesome Crowded West in full from start to finish on all dates, and offering up a limited vinyl picture disc issued by Glacial Pace Recordings. The record will be available in limited quantities as a pre-order add on with each ticket purchased, and will be available to purchase at each show.
The tour kicks off November 18 in Missoula, Montana’s Wilma Theater and wraps December 17 at Terminal 5 in New York City. The night before, the tour hits Boston’s Roadrunner, and tickets for all shows go on sale Friday (September 9) at 10 a.m. local time. Revisit the album and peep all dates after the Spotify jump.
