Now that the worst of the heat wave is past us (at least up in Massachusetts), the air’s starting to betray hints of Fall in the occasional chill one might get after a late night (or early morning) out. And since Fall’s just around the corner — just over a month left, dudes — it means Spooky Season (and who knows if that’s trademarked or not) is around the corner. You’ll get Spirit Halloween creating jobs for all, panicked articles in the financial pages about whether or not the candy companies will be able to make enough supply for all the demand this year, and even more panicked articles — mostly spread on Reddit — about if people can catch the Monkeypox from Halloween candy, but you’ll also get a Tim Burton-directed Netflix series about the one-and-only Wednesday Addams, played in this iteration by Jenna Ortega. Since it’s a Wednesday right before the changing of the seasons — and a slow-ass week for news — the streamer dropped a first-look teaser for the project, and you can see for yourself if this was a good idea or not.
Peep it:
Here’s a synopsis, but if you’ve somehow managed to live through life without getting the particulars of the Addams Family explained to you through either watching the show/movies/cartoons or through pop-culture osmosis, we’re genuinely stunned you clicked on this article. Good for you:
“The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.”
Wednesday will arrive on Netflix at some point this Fall, but we’re guessing it will be one of the eight Wednesdays between the start of September and the end of October. Nothing like dropping a series like this on a Tuesday, right?
