Any day there’s a new song from Metric is a good day for all. And it turns out the enduring Toronto band is back today (April 28), returning with a bounce and a push via a new jam called “All Comes Crashing.” This forceful new tune is the first offering from Metric’s forthcoming eighth studio album, Formentera, due July 8.
“Not everyone has a conventional life with conventional relationships,” says Emily Haines. “‘All Comes Crashing’ is a love song that goes beyond romantic love, it’s an expression of solidarity with whoever it is you would want to have beside you in the event of catastrophe. It might be your best friend, it might be your blood brother or your dog. The song is dedicated to those you consider your family, whatever that looks like for you.”
“All Comes Crashing,” which hit today complete with a music video produced by Haines and directed by Justin Broadbent, should sound pretty fantastic in a live setting. This summer, Metric will embark on the 39-date “The Doomscroller Tour” across both Canada and the United States, and it comes to Boston’s House of Blues on October 25. Tickets to all the shows go on sale May 6; get all the info here.
