BIA isn’t the only one who’s wearing down the plastic on her credit card. Vintage Lee racks up just as many receipts around the Back Bay in her new single and video “Shopping Spree,” which dropped today (April 27).
The new bouncy track follows the Boston emcee on a romp through Copley Place as she piles her cart high with Fenty and other frills. “Puttin’ in this work so I think I deserve a lot of things,” she raps, crafting her own “treat yourself” anthem — which feels extra appropriate, given her recent song placement in HBO’s mega-hit Euphoria.
“Shopping Spree” might be a solo venture, but its accompanying music video boosts Boston music visibility by putting more women in the frame. Lee’s spending spree squad includes area rappers Pimpdaddydane, Chelley Marie, Big Sosa, SliccBae, and $hayBand$, who make cameos in Sephora aisles, fitting rooms, and at the Massachusetts-based sneaker boutique Laced.
“We wanted there to be some fly female vibes, so we reached to some of the fire female artists in the city,” Lee tells Vanyaland. “There were many more who couldn’t be there unfortunately!”
Ooooh, we need that. Whip out your wallet for “Shopping Spree” below.
