Jerrod Carmichael set for The Wilbur stage with insightful comedy

It’s hardly a stretch to say that anything Jerrod Carmichael touches turns to gold, so it’s just our luck that he’ll be bringing his top-tier comedy insight to Boston.

As announced earlier this week, the critically-acclaimed comedian, actor, writer and producer will be making his way to Boston’s Wilbur Theatre on June 3 with a new batch of material. The visit from Carmichael comes on the heels of not only a hosting on Saturday Night Live, but also the release of his third stand-up special, Rothaniel, which premiered on HBO at the beginning of April. In addition to his most recent credits, Carmichael has also kept busy as the director and producer of a pair of autobiographical documentaries, Home Videos and Sermon On The Mount, both of which also premiered on HBO, as well as the feature film On The Count of Three, which was met with rave reviews following its premiere at Sundance Film Festival in 2021.

The leaves will be changing when Tom Papa gets down with a Wilbur crowd on October 1, but one thing is for sure: Something that won’t be changing is the comedic force found in Papa’s nightly delivery of freshly baked stand-up. With his upbeat demeanor, meshed with a brutal honesty and sarcasm, Papa’s got a brand new bag of jokes, and it’s always bound to be a good time.

Certain holiday traditions just aren’t meant to go by the wayside, whether it be a dish, a post-meal Monopoly sesh, or when it comes to New England specifically, winding down the year with the regionally legendary comedic stylings of Bob Marley. He’s keeping the streak alive as he is officially set to return to The Wilbur stage on December 29.

Now, while The Wilbur shows no signs of cooling off this year, things are staying just as hot at The Chevalier Theatre, with Ron White, good ol’ “Tater Salad” himself, making a stop in Medford on September 23. There’s no telling what the legendary Texan will have to say this time around, but rest assured that you won’t have to wait for the cigar smoke to clear to see that White’s comedic intellect is as sharp as ever, and nothing is sacred, in the best possible way.

Tickets for these shows can be accessed via presale starting today (April 27) at noon EDT by using the code VANYA before they go on sale to the general public on Friday (April 29) at noon — except for Carmichael’s show, which goes on sale to the general public earlier that morning at 10 a.m.
