Big news for Massachusetts hip-hop fans: STL GLD, Reks, and Slaine just exited the studio together. You might even call their new collab “massive” — because they certainly did. Presented by Leedz Edutainment, “Massive” (which dropped last Friday, April 22) fuses three veteran rap acts through a storm of haunting beats and rugged rhymes. The accompanying music video — captured by SandoFilms Productions — just pulls listeners deeper into the maelstrom.
Yet despite its turbulent nature, “Massive” never rocks these rappers’ flow.
“When you have three emcees of their talent on one track, it’s really your job as the producer to give them the right canvas to showcase their ability without getting in the way,” shares The Arcitype, Boston producer and member of STL GLD.
Moe Pope, Reks, and Slaine seamlessly slip between features, practically rapping as one entity. “Rapid flow overload” Reks testifies, while sandwiched between verses from Pope and Slaine. As each artist passes the microphone, “Massive” grows more mammoth.
The single will be featured on the forthcoming Leedz Edutainment album A Worker Among Workers, due out this summer. In the meantime, tap in to the beast of a collaboration below.
