Boston Calling’s 2022 artist lineup feels bigger and bolder as it returns this Memorial Day weekend after a two-year hiatus, and now the music festival has the additional stage to prove it. On Thursday, the fest unveiled its Tivoli Audio Orange Stage, a new and fourth forum that will showcase a dozen New England bands and artists across the weekend. Of the festival’s more than 50 performing band and artists this year, roughly 20 of them have ties to the region.
The new stage joins the festival’s established Green Stage, Red Stage and Delta Blue Stage across the sprawling Harvard Athletic Complex in Allston along the Charles River.
Performing on the Tivoli stage are Born Without Bones, Avenue, Miranda Rae, and The Chelsea Curve on Friday (May 27); Van Buren Records, Ali McGuirk (pictured), Coral Moons, and Dutch Tulips on Saturday (May 28); and Cam Meekins, Crooked Coast, Aaron and the Lord, and Paper Tigers on Sunday (May 29).
Boston Calling is this year headlined by Metallica, The Strokes, and Foo Fighters, with an undercard that also includes Rüfüs Du Sol, Weezer, HAIM, Run The Jewels, Glass Animals, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Avril Lavigne, Black Pumas, Modest Mouse, Goose, Cheap Trick, Oliver Tree, EARTHGANG, Orville Peck, The Struts, and others. Other homegrown artists on the bill include Oompa, Cliff Notez, and Julie Rhodes.
