The Massachusetts-born Charlotte Sands has two notable homecoming appearances fast on the horizon: A February 9 appearance at House of Blues opening up for Yungblud, and a sweet spot on the Saturday slate of Memorial Day weekend’s Boston Calling Music Festival, where she’ll share the stage with The Strokes, Run The Jewels, Orville Peck, KennyHoopla, and others.

But before those gigs roll around, the Nashville-based musician has a new EP for us to get to know her a little better. It’s called Love and Other Lies, and it just dropped this past Friday (January 21). The seven-track collection features singles “Dress,” “Every Guy Ever,” and thumping Vanyaland fave “Bad Day,” and it’s a whirlwind collection of glossy modern pop with seasoned singer-songwriter storytelling and youthful pop-punk ethos entrenched in its DNA.

Love and Other Lies is a collection of songs written throughout multiple stages of my life and my relationships,” says Sands. “Each song represents a different emotion, experience, and chapter that when put together completes an entire story. I’ve changed so much over the last few years, as we all have, so creating a project where each song represents a different piece of my journey instead of focusing on one specific moment felt really important.”

Fire up Love and Other Lies below, and circle Sands’ set on your Boston Calling navigation route. She suddenly seems like a can’t-miss performer.
