Not to blow up anyone’s spot here, but a number of Vanyaland editors and contributors have found themselves getting a wedding license at some small town hall or spending an exorbitant amount of money on a celebration that they themselves won’t even get the chance to really enjoy (that cheesy McDonald’s commercial from a few years back about “not being able to eat at your own wedding” is actually sort of right). One thing that we can all be thankful for is that most weddings don’t wind up in the family of the groom participating in a giant game of hide and seek, in which the in-laws are trying to hunt down the bride with antique weaponry so that they can use her as a part of a ritual. Yeah, that’d be a lot of fun, but it’d also be pretty bad, too! Anyways, here’s the trailer for horror-comedy Ready or Not, which looks to be one of those campy late-summer smashes, and just by this little glimpse alone, it’s already wormed its way into our hearts a little bit.
Make sure you don’t watch this at work if you work at the kind of place that would fire you for watching a red-band trailer at your desk:
Well, we’re gonna slap this one with a “kinda fun!” because it looks like a ball and a half, even if it’s coming from the zombified remains of Fox Searchlight. Man, even being reminded of that Disney/Fox merger is enough to suck the life out of the room, huh?
Here’s a brief synopsis:
“‘Ready or Not’ follows a young bride (Samara Weaving) as she joins her new husband’s (Mark O’Brien) rich, eccentric family (Adam Brody, Henry Czerny, Andie MacDowell) in a time-honored tradition that turns into a lethal game with everyone fighting for their survival.”
Ready or Not hits theaters on August 23.
