VQnC knows that true “freedom” lies at the very core of controlling whatever tune is spinning in your soul.

Gearing up for her new album, April 2’s Freedom, the Somerville artist evokes a club-thumping funk with her new track “Heart,” which features Oompa. The song’s overall love for the music scene is four-fold; between production creds for Cliff Notez and HAMSTANK, Oompa’s bars, and of course, VQnC’s idea, “Heart” beats with Boston’s sound in every line.

“I wrote this song about the battle that we all fight within ourselves, the one we fight when we try to run away from the truth which can be an exhausting feat that takes many shapes,” VQnC tells Vanyaland. ”But at the end of that journey, our heart always knows what it needs and there is something innate and beautiful about that, it’s something worth celebrating.”
