Count down to ‘Doomsday’ with another new ‘Avengers’ teaser

As anticipated, another Avengers: Doomsday teaser has hit the internet, one week after the last one (which featured the Fox X-Men doing their thing). It’s about the Wakandans, Leticia Wright’s Shuri and Winston Duke’s M’Baku, meeting the Fantastic Four’s Ben Grimm, as played by Eben Moss-Bacharach. Apparently, Namor’s doing some shit in there as well.

Peep it:

In addition, Marvel also started up a YouTube livestream counting down to Doomsday‘s release, which you can check out here:

Hey, December’s a long-ass time away, but Oppenheimer did the same thing, so at least there’s precedent. What’s more interesting to us is the potential for a fifth trailer, and, given how things have rolled out, we have an educated guess as to when that might be. This Avengers trailer won’t be in front of Avatar for a few days before it’s uploaded, as the last few have, but it will probably come out online right around next Tuesday.

As summed up in this Screen Rant article, South Korea’s Media Ratings Board has rated several additional trailers for the film (they’re a great source for imminent trailer debuts), but they’ve been written off as “variations,” or something else, which makes sense. It would be a little ridiculous to have seven of these things, because even the most dedicated Underroos-wearing nerd would balk at spending another $15 for a minute and twelve seconds of new footage. Screen Rant speculates that it’ll either debut during the Super Bowl or be attached to The Mandalorian and Grogu, the latter of which makes sense given Disney’s emphasis on “corporate synergy.”

Well, what if we told you that, next Monday night, ABC and the ESPN family of networks will host the biggest sporting event on their schedule? The College Football Playoff National Championship ain’t the Super Bowl, that’s for sure, but it is a huge event — Miami vs. Indiana, a match-up every single person predicted before the season started, obviously — and as we pointed out the last time we wrote up one of these trailers, Disney loves having trailers for their big titles during Monday Night Football or the CFP title game. There’s precedent, too: Black Panther showed off a “sneak peek” during the Alabama/Clemson match-up in 2018.

So, that’s our guess (this is pure speculation, y’all). If the odds were right, we’d put money down on it. It’s certainly more likely than them paying NBC or waiting until May after all of this build-up. Either way, Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters on December 18, and then the question of trailers will be moot. Thank God for that.
