It’s always been kind of lame that Galactus — the famed world-eater of Marvel Comics lore — doesn’t actually pop back a planet like a Peanut M&M and crack that motherfucker open, carefully separating the shell and chocolate from the peanut core; enjoying a world stacked with life like he’s an adult enjoying the world’s best candy.
So, in this final trailer for Matt Shakman’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, you get to see how he does it, if not with that massive mouth, as IGN pointed out earlier on Wednesday. Spoiler alert: It’s basically if Zod’s ships in Man of Steel masticated instead of terraformed. Booooooo-ring.
Peep it:
Here’s a synopsis for The Fantastic Four: First Steps:
“Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ introduces Marvel’s First Family — Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.”
The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters one month from when we published this article (that’s July 25 in case you’re having trouble believing that it’s already almost the Fourth of July). By the way, and speaking of food, you can go ahead and get your Little Caesar’s Fantastic Four tie-in pizza, which is such an obvious slam-dunk of a tie-in that we’re upset no one thought of this in, say, 2005. It’s simple, it’s elegant, it isn’t particularly onerous for the staff — good god.
