Exit winter; enter EXIT Galleries.

After a seasonal slumber, the local DIY event and art space will reopen this month, welcoming back a rotation of (mostly) homegrown hip-hop, R&B, jazz, and alt-rock. Starting next week (April 17), EXIT Galleries’ neon red sign will again illuminate Franklin Street in Lower Allston, as Najee Janey, Nafisa, Seezer, and Tommy Chronic kick off the 2025 season.

“The space wouldn’t be what it is without your ideas, your heart, and your movement,” EXIT wrote on Insta at the end of last year. “Thank you for coming together.

As the community comes together once more, this month’s schedule packs a sonic variety spanning the liquid flow of Brockton emcee MonaVeli, the genre-clashing chaos of Boston producer and DJ lilith, and St. Clementine’s self-described “Boston experimental twang.” Currently located in Lower Allston, EXIT Galleries is the creation of artist Sam Fish, who has often uprooted the DIY space over the years, shuffling the concept between areas like Newbury Street, Downtown Crossing, and now Allston.

EXIT’s Franklin Street locale has been thriving since 2022, when we first connected with Fish about his mission to foster an all-ages community space in Boston.
