Today may be April Fool’s Day, but “Every Day is Halloween.” So we’re psyched to finally see a proper music video for Ministry’s goth club anthem, surfacing 41 years since first dropping a beat on underground dance floors around the world and becoming a cult-classic for the subculture.
“I’m amazed and honored that folks are still listening to this song 40 years on,” says Al Jourgensen. “Fly that freak flag proudly.”
The visual is part of new album The Squirrely Years Revisited, where Jourgensen has finally embraced Ministry’s early-’80s synth-pop era with rebooted and modernized takes on the material, including “Work For Love,” “I’m Not An Effigy,” and “I’ll Do Anything For You.”
Jourgensen takes the new mood out on the road this spring, bringing My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult and Die Krupps along for a tour that plays Roadrunner in Boston on May 14. Perhaps former early-era Ministry member, longtime Boston journalist, and Adventure Set keyboardist Mark Pothier will come up and play a few tracks.
