Air Traffic Controller reimagine their message on new ‘dash acoustic EP’

“Sometimes, the best thing you can do is not a damn thing,” Dave Munro sings on Air Traffic Controller’s song “Sometimes.” In other cases, the best move is to strip away life’s background buzz — just as the Boston group did for their new dash acoustic EP.

The project, which dropped today (March 28), pares down three tunes from Air Traffic Controller’s 2022 album DASH. The acoustic EP reworks “Sometimes,” “Anybody Got A Light?,” and “100%,” bringing folksy flair to otherwise bouncy pop-rock. Air Traffic Controller recorded the project as a trio — Emi McSwain, Bobby Borenstein, and Munro — and the band’s same lineup will host an EP release show at tonight at City Winery.

“There are couple songs on every album that bare this side of ATC, but when we tried playing these few rockers from DASH with just a couple instruments and three-part harmonies, it somehow resulted in a louder message,” Munro says. “So we went back to Dimension Sound studio with DASH producer Dan Cardinal and recorded the EP in a day.”
