Watch the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ cast announcement livestream

Marvel

Livestream announcements are a pretty funny thing — imagine getting several hundred thousand people worked up on YouTube in the middle of a workday to see actors’ names on the backs of folding chairs (we’re pretty sure Bela Tarr did this for The Turin Horse) pass by the camera every 10 minutes — and the one that Marvel’s currently doing for Avengers: Doomsday is exactly what we just described.

No, really: Hundreds of people are freaking out in the live stream over Tenoch Huerta Mejia’s name being on the back of a director’s chair. But, then again, this is the most news we’ve had about the new Avengers films in a good while, at least since Marvel announced they were bringing back Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.

Oh, look, the camera just moved to the “Eben Moss-Bachrach” chair. Who would have guessed the Thing would be in the next Avengers movie? Oh, now it’s Simu Liu’s turn! Holy shit, we can’t believe they finally took Shang-Chi off of the shelf. Only took five years.

Announced cast members include Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, and so on. You know, all the folks you’d expect to be in it. They’ll probably cap shit off with the announcement that Chris Evans, Hugh Jackman and the Spider-Men are coming back, some eight hours from now, once enough people in the right time zones are off of work.

Honestly, we’re just writing this up to tell you to go watch the live chat — there’s some premium shitposting going on over there (whoever just said “Rick Harrison,” congrats, you made us laugh). But honestly, it’s probably just best to wait until the whole thing blows over, and you can see the final news on IGN or something.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on May 1, 2026. That’s an awful lot of talent for an awfully short production — that’s 13 months from the first set-up to release. Jesus Christ.
