Editor’s Note: It’s the same thing we all know in love when it comes to Vanyaland’s recurring weekly live comedy rundown, Mic’d Up — just a slightly different face. We’ll be hyping club shows, theater and arena gigs, open mics, and whatever else to help fill your free time with some much-needed laughter.
Spending years as a blue fish in a red pond can never be easy, and while it’s been a bit since Trae Crowder has lived in such an area, the sentiment still stands, so a trip to the northeast should help a bit in giving him some extra space to speak his mind.
Making his way to Boston on Saturday (March 22), the comedian, author, filmmaker, and self-proclaimed “Liberal Redneck” makes his Wilbur debut after years on the grind, both on screen and on stage. While he fills the time that he isn’t on stage with hosting gigs on three separate podcasts, WellRED, Evening Skews and Puttin’ On Airs, Crowder also recently released his second stand-up special, Trash Daddy, on YouTube.
After gaining notoriety for his political commentary early in his career, Crowder has also written a book, The Liberal Redneck Manifesto: Draggin Dixie Outta The Dark, and also teamed up with former presidential candidate Andrew Yang to produce the documentary Inherent Good in 2021.
In a vast landscape of political and social perspectives, things consistently look darker by the day, but with Crowder at the mic, he’s sure to keep it real while also making sure that his audience is letting loose and laughing until the final curtain.
TRAE CROWDER :: Saturday, March 22 at The Wilbur Theatre, 246 Tremont St. in Boston, MA :: 6 p.m., $35 to $45 :: Advance tickets
