You might remember that Adam Sandler showed up in ball shorts at the Oscars a few weeks ago, looking to hoop. It was a good bit (in a night with too few of them), but you’ll probably remember 2025 for another notable sporty Sandman appearance—this time in a hockey jersey. That’s right, y’all: we’ve got Happy Gilmore 2 coming this summer, where the iconic character will make his return on Netflix ready to lose his goddamn mind on the golf course some thirty years after the original (Jesus fucking Christ). He might not get to throw down with Bob Barker this time (RIP to the spay-and-neuter GOAT), but he will face off against a bunch of PGA tour players, John Daly and Shooter McGavin. Netflix dropped the first teaser for the sequel earlier on Tuesday, and it’s got that classic Sandman magic in it.

Here’s a synopsis for Happy Gilmore 2:
“Happy Gilmore Returns!”
Yeah, that’s all you’ll get from Netflix on this one, and let’s be real, it’s not like they need to do much in the way of pitching this movie to a general audience in order for it to be a massive success. What we can give you is a cast list — in addition to Sandler, Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, Ben Stiller, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, John Daly, Sadie Sandler, Sunny Sandler, Conor Sherry, Ethan Cutkosky, Philip Fine Schneider, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Travis Kelce, Blake Clark, Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, and Paige Spiranic all have roles. So, depending on whether or not you had money on Rory in the Players this past weekend, you might be happy (or sad!) to see him chilling with Sandman.
Either way, Happy Gilmore 2 will start streaming on Netflix on July 25. We can’t wait.
