We’ve crossed the Daylight Savings Time rubicon here in the states, which means spring lurks just around a still-frigid corner. And with it comes the need for a proper indie belter to soundtrack the rebirth, and the latest entry comes from Seafret.

The English indie duo of Jack Sedman and Harry Draper dropped an anthemic new track and visual in “River of Tears” this past Friday (March 14), showcasing a vibrant new sound with an expansive and cinematic depth that should sound fantastic with the wind at our collective sails. And though the sound us upbeat and propulsive, there’s a shadowy undercurrent to the vibe — which makes it even more perfect for the uneven months ahead.

“‘River of Tears’ explores the heartbreak of being in a relationship you always knew was doomed, yet still struggling to accept its inevitable end,” the band explains. “We originally wrote this on piano but found the darker production worked so well we had no choice but to go for it. This song was a turning point for the album and even a little for us as writers. It isn’t a style of song we’ve done in the past but it feels like we’ve opened a door to somewhere new and exciting.”

News on that album should be available soon. In the meantime, crank up “River of Tears” below, and hit the Seafret Insta for their upcoming tour of the United Kingdom.
