Music: Dropkick Murphys at MGM Music Hall at Fenway
No matter the time of year, Dropkick Murphys show up for Boston. And this weekend, like clockwork, Boston shows up for Dropkick Murphys. The Celtic punk band and tireless defenders of our city and way of life take over MGM Music Hall at Fenway tonight through Sunday for four shows, including a family-friendly mini-concert matinée on Saturday, fresh off making national headlines for the wager heard ’round the world. Joining Ken Casey and the boys this weekend, ahead of a pair of St. Patrick’s Day shows at House of Blues, are The Menzingers, The Kilograms, Hot Water Music, and others. And to get us worked up, we’re rebooting “Sirens,” a track that dropped last fall and set a tone for what was to come (and well as continue what came before). Says Casey about the punchy track: “For nearly a decade, the division between red and blue, right and left, has grown deeper, darker and uglier — dividing families, and ending friendships. Nobody enjoys this more than the billionaires, who are making record profits off the blood, sweat, and tears of the working class. They love it when we fight amongst ourselves, because their biggest fear is us joining together to come after them… THE REAL ENEMY.” Time to ship up, Boston.

Film/TV: ‘Major League’ at Somerville Theatre
We got a little pre-spring fling going on with the Somerville Theatre. And we are in the midst of a lifetime obsession with baseball, so we’re stoked to see Major League get the midnight screening treatment this Saturday. Maybe it’s the Alex Bregman signing, maybe it’s Jarren Duran’s superstar breakout, and maybe it’s the impending arrival of Roman Anthony, Kristian Campbell and Marcelo Mayer, but we are stoked for the start of the 2025 season and a new year of Red Sox baseball. The theatre first hosts a special Saturday screening of new baseball flick Eephus, with a Q&A with director Carson Lund and former Sox great Bill “Spaceman” Lee, and that looks very interesting, but we’re rocking it midnight style with the forever-quotable ’80s cult classic — because we got baseball on the brain. You know the Major League plot, but here it is anyway: “The new owner of the Cleveland Indians puts together a purposely horrible team so they’ll lose and she can move the team. But when the plot is uncovered, they start winning just to spite her.”
‘MAJOR LEAGUE’ :: Saturday, March 15 at Somerville Theatre, 55 Davis Square in Somerville, MA :: 11:59 p.m., $15 :: Event info
