Mic’d Up: Dusty Slay puts in the hours on the ‘Night Shift’ tour

Editor’s Note: It’s the same thing we all know in love when it comes to Vanyaland’s recurring weekly live comedy rundown, Mic’d Up — just a slightly different face. We’ll be hyping club shows, theater and arena gigs, open mics, and whatever else to help fill your free time with some much-needed laughter.

For as long as he’s been in the spotlight, Dusty Slay has made it a point to make sure everyone in his audience is havin’ a good time. Such will be the story as he returns to Boston this week for the first in a handful of years, this time leveling up to a bigger stage.

Cruising in to the Wang Theatre on Friday (March 14) as part of his Night Shift theater tour, Slay brings with him an all-new hour of his highly relatable “every man” brand of comedy, and a familiar charm that has helped to endear him and his signature trucker hat to crowds all over the country. In addition to his debut special Workin’ Man, which debuted on Netflix in 2024, Slay offers up a genuine and personal look into his celebrated perspective by way of a weekly podcast, We’re Having a Good Time, as well as his YouTube series, Nashville Hot.

In a landscape that so often seems to incorporate headlines into jokes, Slay is one of the best at not doing that while still maintaining the ability to remain current and real, all in real time.
