A24 and the ‘Talk to Me’ guys present the ‘Bring Her Back’ trailer

Bring Her Back
A24

It’s always amazing to us that, for all the bullshit people spew about “elevated horror,” the single most successful A24 release in the genre was a pretty traditional (and pretty solid) little flick from two Australian YouTubers.

Seriously, Danny and Michael Philippou, better known as RackaRacka, made more money for the studio with Talk to Me than any single Ari Aster picture — and people really liked it. So, it makes sense that the boutique studio behind Beau is Afraid and Men would bring them back with an even larger budget (and real, legit actors like Sally Hawkins) for Bring Her Back, a new horror feature that will kick off their summer slate.

They dropped a cryptic teaser for the project on Wednesday morning, so put on your thinking caps, take a look, and then head to your preferred message board or social media platform to spew whatever theories come to your head. Remember: first thought, best thought.

Peep it:

Instead of a typical synopsis (A24 really wants to play this close to the chest, it seems), here’s some detail from Variety:

“While the footage typically obfuscates the narrative details around the film’s occult thrills, the logline confirms that the story follows a brother and sister who uncover a horrifying ritual in their foster mother’s home. Some of the more striking images featured include found-footage from an early digital camera, a bird’s-eye of a prayer circle and Sally Hawkins putting her bloody hand upon a window.”

To see all that and more, just click on the trailer above (honestly, trailer recaps somewhat mystify us: just write context and let the people watch it, guys). Otherwise, you’ll have to wait until May 30 to see what wacky shit RackaRacka has cooked up this time, as that’s when Bring Her Back will hit theaters.
