For years, Josh Johnson has planted numerous seeds of creative ingenuity that stretch far beyond the realm of stand-up. Now, those seeds have blossomed even more into a brand new tour that’s making it’s way to Boston for double the fun.
As announced earlier this week, the eclectic comedian will return to Boston for two nights at The Wilbur on September 5 and 6 as part of his upcoming Flowers tour. The visit will mark Johnson’s first romp at The Wilbur, and his second run through Boston in less than a year after setting up shop at Laugh Boston in October 2024.
Aside from his critically-acclaimed work on stage, Johnson has also occasionally taken the seat behind the desk at The Daily Show as part of its revolving cast of hosts following the departure of Trevor Noah, and subsequent return of Jon Stewart. Most recently, Johnson released his latest stand-up special in Up Here Killing Myself on Peacock in 2023, as well as a stand-up audio album, Live From Before, in 2024.
Taking a break from Studio 8H on April 16, Saturday Night Live standout Marcello Hernandez makes his Wilbur debut, bringing the improv chops and top-notch comedy approach that has helped power the iconic sketch show through its past two seasons, as well as its milestone 50th season, to a different kind of live setting.
Amidst a titanic rise through his journey in comedy, Nate Jackson is soaking it all in with his Super Funny World Tour, which lands him at The Wilbur on June 5. Just over the the last few years, Jackson has ascended in the ranks as a result of his accessible and relatable approach to his craft, resulting in a role in sold-out shows all over the country, as well as a role the upcoming spin-off of The Office. Also recently, Jackson recorded what will become his first Netflix stand-up special over the course of four sold-out nights at Seattle’s Neptune Theater.
Equipped with a guitar and giant notepad, as as he has been known to travel with over the course of his illustrious career, Demetri Martin returns to The Wilbur on June 28, as part of his Quick Draw tour. Since his last visit in 2022, Martin has remained a constant in the touring game, building DIY-type tours based on the responses of his social media followers, and released his most recent special, Demetri Deconstructed on Netflix in 2024. Away from the stage, he’s also taken on the role of narrator for the We Bare Bears spin-off, We Baby Bears on Cartoon Network, and made a cameo appearance as Tiny Tim in “Weird” Al Yankovic’s parody biopic, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.
