Forget what a folkloric rodent in Pennsylvania said about seeing his shadow — spring dawns in New England when The Thing In The Spring begins.

The New Hampshire music festival has announced the lineup for its 2025 edition, which runs from May 16 though 18 at Nova Arts in downtown Keene. As in recent years, performances will be split between Nova Arts’ indoor and outdoor stages, although this spring’s iteration will also include a Saturday evening show at the nearby Colonial Theatre.

Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus and Western Massachusetts folk singer/violinist Aisha Burns (pictured above) stand out on the lineup, plus a smattering of additional New England acts like Cozy Throne, Sailor Down, and Wake In Fright. Ethereal Irish singer-songwriter Maria Somerville and South African art rock act BLK JKS are also among this year’s 30 performers.

Unique to 2025 is Malkmus’ set with acoustic alt-pop artist Mirah at the Colonial Theatre, as well as a mini residency from Sunburned Hand of the Man, which will see the Boston experimental rock band perform at Nova Arts every day of the fest.

Daily tickets vary in price — Friday and Sunday fetch $40 each, Saturday is $60 — while weekend passes are $100. Grab tickets here, and check out the full lineup below.
