Bambara ride alongside a spiraling psyche on ‘Pray To Me’

Via Terrorbird

Yeah, sure, lyrical interpretation should always be left up to the listener, but we can’t help but fixate on this quote from Reid Bateh of Bambara, who sets up the New York City post-punk band’s fiery new single “Pray To Me” in a way that requires everyone’s full attention: “A one-eyed man arrives at a country karaoke night with a knife in his pocket and a plan to win over Elena, the object of his obsession. His fantasy unravels when he sees her kissing a stranger at the bar. The music barrels along with a raucous mania mirroring the one-eyed man’s spiraling psyche as it begins to whirl toward a murderous climax.” Well, shit. “Pray To Me” will be featured on Bambara’s forthcoming fifth album Birthmarks, co-produced by Graham Sutton (These New Puritans, Jarvis Cocker) and out March 14 on Wharf Cat Records here in North America.
