Father John Misty, February 22
There age of the rock and roll star is long dead, but there remains an unmistakable aura around Father John Misty. The man his family calls Joshua Michael Tillman has a new album called Mahashmashana due out just before Thanksgiving, and after a little holiday break takes he it out on the road for a North American tour that plays MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston on February 22. And he’s got Destroyer in tow, so it’ll be worth battling the snow on Lansdowne Street to get in early. Mahashmashana, meanwhile, is the Mist’s sixth studio album, produced by himself and Drew Erickson, and its Sanskrit title translates to “great cremation ground, all things going thither.” The dude still has us learning things after all these years. A few tracks have already been released from the eight-song record, and we invite everyone to go from Vanyaland to “Screamland” below. Tickets go on sale on Friday (October 18) at 10 a.m. local time.
