The first new album from The Cure in 16 years is starting to take a remarkable shape. A few weeks back Robert Smith and the iconic band stirred something inside us all with lead single “Alone”, and now a new entry from the long-awaited Songs of a Lost World has appeared seemingly out of nowhere. The track is called “A Fragile Thing,” and the relatively upbeat and dramatic number has a classic Cure feel to it, and it hit the streams this afternoon (October 9).

“’A Fragile Thing’ is driven by the difficulties we face in choosing between mutually exclusive needs and how we deal with the futile regret that can follow these choices, however sure we are that the right choices have been made,” Smith offers, “it can often be very hard to be the person that you really need to be.”

Songs of a Lost World, The Cure’s 14th studio album and first since 2008’s 4:13 Dream, is out on November 1. Check out the full track list over at songsofalost.world, and pre-order it here.
