Over the past two decades, the allure of the Patriots playing in the Super Bowl was all we needed here in Boston to endure another cold, harsh winter. With the Pats now consistently playing for draft picks in the post-Brady & Belichick era, Run For Cover Records and The Bowery Presents have blessed us with something to look forward to this February.
As announced yesterday (September 23), Something In The Way Fest comes to Bowery’s Roadrunner in Brighton on February 1 and 2, and the lineup is just fucking wild. The festival, which launched in 2016 in New York City as a one-off and now comes to Boston nearly a decade later, is headlined by Slowdive, Balance & Composure, Soccer Mommy, and American Football, with an undercard just as strong, featuring our current obsession Wishy alongside the likes of Fiddlehead, Mannequin Pussy, Militarie Gun, Sweet Pill, Enumclaw, Gouge Away, Ovlov, and plenty more.
The festival promises two stages and no overlapping sets across its 24-band lineup. And part of the reason for the festivities is that the Boston-based Run For Cover and The Bowery Presents are celebrating notable anniversaries.
“This year marks the 20 year anniversaries of both Run For Cover Records and The Bowery Presents, and the announcement of Something In The Way is a perfect way to celebrate the impact of these two pillars of the modern music landscape,” the festival states. “The first iteration of the fest was in 2016 and included the likes of Alex G, Modern Baseball, and Turnover, and now the 2025 edition is shaping up to be even bigger.”
That’s the damn truth.
General ticket on-sale happens this Friday (September 27) at 10 a.m. local time, and both the festival and Run For Cover are holding pre-sales today through Thursday. Usually here we post the ticket price with some sarcastic comment, but we’re not going to bother looking it up because who cares how much this shit is, whatever the cost it’s probably worth it.
