Since their debut special catapulted them into international comedy superstardom, Hannah Gadsby has only continued to be more open, honest and genuine when it comes to sharing about their life and the struggles and concerns that have come up along the way. Now, they’re back with a whole new show – and they’ve still got quite the bone to pick.
Returning to Boston for two servings of their brand new show Woof! at Emerson Colonial Theatre tonight (September 19), the Australian comedy veteran looks to delve into a fresh slate of frustrations, worries and gripes that have cropped up since the last time they were in town. Just as they showcased in their four hit specials Nanette, Douglas, Something Special, and most recently Gender Agenda, Gadsby comes back to the Theatre District equipped with a razor sharp wit, ironclad jokewriting and storytelling, and a thought-provoking delivery that shines right through their often upfront approach. It only continues to captivate sold-out crowds all over the world, as Gadsby masterfully walks the tight rope between bringing the laughs in droves and diving head first into the deep end of some hot-button, and often heavy topics with an Indiana Jones-level of confidence and brute creative force.
The bark will surely be top-tier, and the bite won’t be so bad when you see the perspective Gadsby is pulling it from, so check it out before it becomes another Netflix classic.
