When love throws you into that can’t-eat, can’t-drink phase, sometimes the only way to break free is to focus on what you can do — like write, produce, mix, and master a track by yourself. MyCompiledThoughts puts to bed “a turbulent moment in a past relationship” via his new song “Moving Crazy,” which the Boston artist crafted himself entirely on Ableton.
The single arrived earlier this month (August 6) as the followup to MyCompiledThoughts’ March EP Soul Brother Chapter One. It’s an R&B-steeped assessment of mixed signals, further mellowed by flits of lingering desire; “you make me feel holy,” he professes, despite also feeling utterly baffled.
“I felt like I was spiraling, intertwined with an avoidant lover,” MyCompiledThoughts shares. “I loved her dearly, but her tendencies to avoid made me feel like I was moving crazy.”
