Editor’s Note: Welcome to V3 Weekend, Vanyaland‘s guide to help you sort out your weekend entertainment with curated selections and recommendations across our three pillars of MusicComedy, and Film/TV. It’s what you should know about, where you need to be, and where you’ll be going, with us riding shotgun along the way.

Music: Fenway Park Concert Series with Noah Kahan, Kane Brown, Foo Fighters

We’re headed into the meat of the lineup for the Fenway Park Summer Concert Series, and this weekend brings a triple play of action while the white-hot Red Sox take on the Dodgers out in Los Angeles for a possible World Series preview coming out of the All-Star Break. On deck: Noah Kahan completes his doubleheader tonight (July 19), a show that will be live-streamed; Kane Brown brings some country to the ballpark on Saturday (July 20); and old friends the Foo Fighters return to town Sunday (July 21) for their first show here since last year’s Boston Calling. And hell, any Foo gig is a good excuse to bust out Scott Murry’s incredible photo gallery from Dave Grohl and Co.’s 2018 performance at Fenway — the same year the Red Sox defeated the Dodgers in the World Series. Things that make you go hmmmm….

Comedy: Matt Braunger at City Winery

We’re tossing it over to Jason Greenough from this week’s Mic’d Up, which also shows the love to Jeremiah Watkins at Laugh Boston and Brett Goldstein at Chevalier Theatre this weekend: “Aside from being one of the funniest and all-around best comics in the game, Matt Braunger is also one of the most genuine artists you’ll find in your search for top tier comedy. As he returns to the city with new material, his fresh and often entirely too relatable perspective is always a welcomed viewpoint that will surely deliver one of the best nights you’ll experience at a comedy club. Plus, Ken Reid is also slated to take the stage, so throw down a big ass W for City Winery this coming weekend.”

MATT BRAUNGER :: Friday, July 19 at City Winery, 80 Beverly St. in Boston, MA :: 5:30 p.m., $25 to $30 :: Advance Tickets

Film/TV: ‘Robot Dreams’ at The Brattle

This weekend The Brattle is celebrating 50 years of The Million Year Picnic, New England’s oldest comic book store, and the Cambridge theatre and shop team up for a festival of films based on comic books and graphic novels. While Saturday’s screening of Robot Dreams featuring graphic novel author Sara Varon is sold out (read Nick Johnston’s wonderful review from TIFF), there’s lots on the schedule to get all drawn up about: Friday (July 19) features Vanyaland all-time fave Ghost World (4 and 9 p.m.) and Crumb (6:30 p.m.); Saturday screens Scott Pilgrim vs The World (12:30 and 9:30 p.m.), The Picnic (3:30 p.m.), and the aforementioned Robot Dreams (6:30 p.m.); and Sunday serves up Black Panther (1 p.m.), Nimona (4 p.m.), Persepolis (6:15 p.m.), and Tank Girl (8:30 p.m.). That’s some weekend.
