Rock’s youngest mega-stars are on a roll. The Linda Lindas, who first got the world’s attention after performing in a library three years ago, may currently be busy touring with the likes of Green Day and the Rolling Stones and covering Talking Heads on The Tonight Show, but they’ve also found time to write and record new music.

Today (July 16), the band shares their newest single, “All In My Head,” ahead of their second full-length record No Obligation, due September 20 via Epitaph Records. The Linda Lindas seem to really be doing it all while simultaneously finishing middle and high school — no big deal — but their sound remains far from juvenile. Their previous LP, 2022’s Growing Up, was an indie-punk blend of influences running the musical gamut; “All In My Head” keeps that edge to it, with a more rounded power pop flair.

On the track, writer, guitarist, and vocalist Lucia de la Garza laments the woes of loneliness — despite enjoying being alone. It’s real and relatable, even if it was inspired by fiction, namely Ottessa Moshfegh’s 2018 novel My Year of Rest and Relaxation, which de la Garza read last summer.

“I wrote ‘All In My Head,’ from the perspective of a book character, which kinda brought us out of our comfort zone,” she says. “It felt like a break from reality, which we don’t usually find ourselves writing about.”

The Linda Lindas will be in town August 7 as part of a mega-tour with Green Day, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Rancid. Get to the big Fenway gig early to catch them tear it up, as they’ll go on shortly after doors, most likely, and get ready to rock with “All In My Head.”
