Let’s get loud, We Make Noise Festival.

In collaboration with Mass NOW, the Boston chapter of We Make Noise will bring a free, one-day music fest to Downtown Crossing on August 24. From noon to 8 p.m., the event will pack Washington Street and Summer Street with live music, visual art galleries, and a vendor area organized by the Boston Women’s Market. This year marks the second edition of the festival, which launched last summer as “BBG Fest,” a nod to We Make Noise’s prior moniker Beats By Girlz.

As an intersectional organization that aims to empower, connect, and educate women and gender-expansive artists, We Make Noise has tapped a vibrant array of area emcees, poets, DJs, and musicians to showcase across three stages. Performers announced thus far include hip-hop headliner Oompa (pictured above), as well as Cakeswagg, Amanda Shea, Lisa Bello, 1-800-SHORT-KING, Kühlname, Daniela Gómez, Analise, Kim Moberg, Gabriella Simpkins, and dogtailcorners.

“This will be a celebration of the great diverse local talent that makes Boston such a unique place to live,” says performer Naomi Westwater, who also co-organized the event“From the artists to the vendors, makers, artisans, and more the We Make Noise Festival will uplift voices and showcase talents of often overlooked and marginalized communities.”
