Editor’s NoteWe’re officially beyond the halfway point of the calendar year, so it’s full steam ahead into the dog days of summer. Get out and enjoy some sun while you can, but if you’d rather set your coordinates for doing something fun indoors to beat the heat, comedy clubs are generally pretty good for air conditioning. It’s truly a win-win for everyone involved. With homegrown talent, national headliners, and open mics galore highlighting the calendar, the plethora of powerful comedy throughout the commonwealth continues to show up, night after night. Enter Mic’d Up, our ongoing weekly series that details the best live comedy shows to consider as you head out and about. Below, find our rundown for this week, through Sunday (July 14).

Corey Rodrigues at Laugh Boston

There’s nothing quite like a hometown headliner to kick off the weekend. Not to mention, Corey Rodrigues continues to be one of the best coming out of the city as he bolsters his top-tier storytelling abilities night after night on stages both locally and abroad. The best thing about a night out to see Rodrigues is that you know what’s up — he’s flat out one of the best in the game, and there’s no sign of him stopping.

COREY RODRIGUES :: Friday, July 12 at Laugh Boston, 425 Summer St. in Boston, MA :: 6 p.m., $33 :: Advance tickets

River Butcher at Laugh Boston

It feels like an eternity since River Butcher was last in Boston, but what a welcome return it is. Continuing to be one of the most thought-provoking and creatively potent comics in the game, Butcher brings with him a new hour of material and plenty of fresh perspective that is sure to provide as much insight as it will big laughs.

RIVER BUTCHER :: Saturday, July 13 at Laugh Boston, 425 Summer St. in Boston, MA :: 6 and 9 p.m., $33 :: Advance tickets

Nikki Glaser at Cape Cod Melody Tent

After roasting Tom Brady to a fine crisp, Nikki Glaser makes her way back to the area to take on a new setting on the Cape, which means you can see a bonafide comedy all-star bring the house down while still trying to shake that clump of sand out of your Hey Dudes. There is no path that Glaser finds off limits, it seems, so the chances of you seeing one of the most high-velocity comedy shows of the summer — if not the whole year — is incredibly high.

NIKKI GLASER :: Sunday, July 14 at Cape Cod Melody Tent, 41 West St. in Hyannis, MA :: 7 p.m., sold out :: Advance tickets
