We were sitting here busy compiling a Best of 2024 (So Far) list of singles that we’ve been vibing with the most in this weird and uneven year of music, with Charly Bliss’ sweeping May epic “Nineteen” included close to the top. But we’ve scrapped those plans entirely in favor of hyping something new from the Brooklyn indie band.
Today (July 9), Eva Hendricks and the boys enter the Song of the Summer sweepstakes with a buoyant new bop called “Waiting For You,” and it continues to shape an effervescent sonic aura around next month’s FOREVER album, due out August 16 via Lucky Number.
Hendricks dubs this infectious new power-pop track “a love song for my bandmates,” adding: “While I was separated from Sam, Spencer, & Dan during the pandemic, I remember watching videos of us playing shows and thinking ‘How could I have taken this for granted?’ I couldn’t see how beautiful everything really was and how lucky we were. It was agonizing to be apart for that long but helpful, because I don’t think I’ll ever let myself forget that again.”
Coat yourself in Charly Bliss’ musical brand of warmth below, and gaze upon the “Waiting For You” music video, which debuted on YouTube like three minutes ago…
